If God is With Us, Why Has All This Happened to Us? Date: August 26, 2012 Scripture Reference: Judges 6-8 from The Series:  Great Questions of the Bible for 2012 Introduction I do love history and the lessons it can teach us-and I truly believe these historical struggles can teach us lessons that are hard to learn otherwise. History is a mystery if you do not know it's chemistry.  For example, a closer look at historic battles gives us an opportunity to learn about the horrors of war-which motivates us to work all that much harder for lasting peace. Who Can Stand Against the Armies of the Living God? Date: August 19, 2012 Scripture Reference:  1 Samuel 17:1-51 from The Series:   Great Questions of the Bible for 2012 Introduction Well, in spite of what skyrocketing petrol prices might make you think, we’re NOT in a depression at the moment but we all know how those people felt back then because we all face “giants” in life… giants that make us feel small… giants that we are afraid of because we think we can never win in our struggles with them. How Often Must I Forgive? Date: August 12, 2012 Scripture Reference:  Matthew 18:21 from The Series:   Great Questions of the Bible for 2012 INTRODUCTION Matthew 18:21 -Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Any teacher worth his or her chalkboard will tell you that ASKING QUESTIONS can be a very effective teaching tool because in the process of seeking the answer to one question, skilled teachers can guide their students to come up with other questions that lead their students to learn even more. The more questions they ask and answer, the deeper their understanding of a particular subject. Think of it this way-many times learning is like peeling an artichoke. The more layers you peel away, the closer you get to the truth. Sermon Now, in my opinion, today’s text provides us with a great opportunity to make use of this teaching tool. Peter asks his Teacher...
