Lead Us Not Into Temptation... Date: May 27, 20 12 Scripture: Matthew 6:13 from the series The Sermon on the Mount Introduction A few decades ago psychologists conducted a very interesting experiment to determine how human beings respond to temptation. Here's how it worked. A psychologist would leave a small child, say four or five years old, alone in a room with one marshmallow on the table in front of him. Before he left, the tester would say to the child, "I'm going to leave the room for a few minutes. As you can see, there's one marshmallow here in front of you. That's your marshmallow. You can eat it if you want, but if you don't eat it and instead, wait until I get back, you can have two marshmallows." Well, the results were as funny as they were predictable.
