1 Corinthians 15:50-58 WHEN DEATH IS FINALLY DEFEATED

Image
Intro : We humans have a problem. Every one of us is being stalked by a powerful, relentless enemy . Regardless of the efforts we make to avoid this enemy, we have an appointment with him that we will keep. The enemy of which I speak is death. Paul tells us in 1 Cor. 15:26 that this enemy will be defeated. That is the good news. The bad news is that we will continue to keep our appointments until death is finally defeated, Heb. 9:27 .       That is why 1 Cor. 15 is such a wonderful chapter. It opens with a clear statement of the Gospel, verses 3-4 . It tells us what we must do to “ pass from death unto life ”, John 5:24 . From there, the verses rise in a great anthem of worship and praise. Over and over Paul sounds out the great refrain: Jesus Christ is risen indeed !       The saints of God are reminded that because Jesus lives, they shall live also. They are reminded that even if death were to take these mortal bodies ; we will l...

John 19:28-37 THE GREATEST THING JESUS EVER SAID John 19:28-37 THE GREATEST THING JESUS EVER SAID Introduction: Some people have a way with words. They just have such a grasp of language and an eloquence of speech that they are always saying things that are deeply profound. Jesus was a Person like that. All through the years of His recorded ministry, one thing about Him kept the people spellbound, and that thing was His ability to say things in a manner in which they had never been said before. Just a brief glimpse into the Gospels proves this beyond question. In Matthew 7:28-29, the Bible says that the people were astonished at His doctrine, because He had taught with power and authority. In Luke 4:22, the people who heard Him speak here were again amazed at the power of His spoken word. Even His enemies were astounded at the word which fell from the golden tongue of the Son of Man, John 7:46. Then, when we take a few minutes to consider some of the things Jesus said, we...

Mark 11:1-11 BEHOLD, THY KING  COMETH UNTO THEE! Intro : We have reached a pivotal point in the book of Mark. Jesus is on the Mount of Olives overlooking Jerusalem. Jesus has been here many times, in fact, He has been in the city below many times. When He descends from the Mount of Olives on this day, He will be setting into motion certain events that will climax with His death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead.         The events we are studying today took place sometime on a Sunday. Before the sun sets the next Friday, Jesus will have been crucified and buried. Before the sun rises on the next Sunday morning, Jesus will have conquered death, hell and the grave by resurrecting from the dead. The events of this day mark the beginning of our Lord’s Passion Week.         Up to this point in the ministry of Jesus, He had always told His men to keep quiet about His identity. Often, when Jesus healed...
