LET’S TALK Date January 29 , 2011 Scripture Reference: Ephesians 4:25-5:2 from the series Christian Family   Introduction Let me describe for you a typical scene of family conversation. The father and his favorite son are having a private meeting. The other family members are not included. They are talking about some things that they are intending to do and some plans they are making between one another.        The mother is eavesdropping on the conversation. What she hears is not satisfactory to her at all. So she gathers in her favorite son, the other one, and tells him what's going on between dad and the other boy. They devise a plot so that they can override what the father and that son are doing.       In the course of the affair, the mother’s favorite son deceives the father’s favorite son and steals his inheritance. David: A Man After God’s Own Heart  – 2 Samuel 7:1-29 WHEN GOD SAYS “ NO ” Introduction :  This passage describes what were possibly the best days in the life of King David.  He was the King of Israel.  His nation was united and at peace.  David was enjoying a time of rest, after all the problems that he had been forced to endure. For David, these days were a time to meditate and reflect on the blessings and the grace of God.  As David meditated on the Lord and the Law, a dream was born in his heart.  He wanted to build God a permanent dwelling place.        Since the time the Tabernacle had been built during the days of Moses; God’s presence had dwelt in the Holy of Holies of that temporary building.  David wanted to give the Lord a proper, permanent place to manifest His glorious presence. 2 Samuel 6:1-19 GOING AFTER GOD Intro :    When we last left David, he was secure in his position as King of Israel.    The nation had gathered themselves around him and anointed him to be their king.    While David was certainly grateful for the peace that existed in  Israel  in those days; he knew that  Israel  was still far away from the Lord.    During the days of  Saul ,  Israel  had lost sight of their relationship with the Lord.    David wanted to make that situation right.    He wanted to bring his people back to God.        To do this, David knew that he was going to have to lead the nation to go after God.    Our passage opens with David leading a massive army to retrieve the Ark of the Covenant from the house of a man named Abinadab.
